Travel and trekking information

With the current interest in travelling to far flung places we are frequently asked for advice about which countries to visit, what equipment and clothing to take and any medical and legal requirements that may have to be met.
It is also essential that up to date information is sought regarding the economic and political stability of any travel destination with a history of turbulence. The travel section of the Government's Foreign and Commonwealth Office website gives information about all world wide destinations and their advice is best heeded.
On a more positive note, there are many fabulous trekking destinations and several experienced UK companies offering organised yet adventurous trips. Our own particular favourite is KE Travel, based in Keswick. Speak to Lucy Cartwright or one of her colleagues there – they have loads of adventure travel experience...

If you're planning your own trip abroad then by all means call in the shop as Si and most of our staff have travelled extensively and may be able to assist. We also carry a full range of travel and trekking products including travel packs, mosquito nets, lightweight sleeping bags, trekking shirts and trousers, Tilley hats, Lonely Planet destination guidebooks and much, much more...

We carry an extensive range of indispensible travel items and first aid kits from Lifesystems who for fifteen years have provided equipment and advice for explorers, expeditions and travellers all over the world.
We are also very happy to order any special items not in stock that you would like – we deal with most major suppliers of outdoor clothing and equipment.
