Simon Taylor
Si is into most mountain and water based sports and spent much of his twenties abroad before settling down. After a spell working in corporate IT for IBM he bought Mountainfeet and after running it for eleven years in Oldham has recently moved the shop to the picturesque village of Marsden where he lives.
As a BASI qualified ski instructor who's worked nine seasons in the French, Italian and Austrian Alps he's well able to advise on most snow sport matters. He's also crazy about most cycling disciplines – don't expect any sense out of him when the Tour de France or Moto GP is on TV!
If you're looking for advice on ski touring kit then he's the fellow to talk to – make sure you've got LOTS of time though!
Under par at football but talks a good game...
Liz Taylor
Liz's financial support is part of the reason that Marsden has a fully functioning mountain sports shop. She has a full time job in IT with the extremely ethical Co-op but helps out when necessary in the shop. Her journeys to such far flung places as Guatemala, Mongolia, Morocco, Mexico and Kenya mean she's great to talk to if you're planning a big trip.
Liz is a mountain bike junkie but in a previous sporting life was a climber and paraglider. Now she's been press ganged into sailing so she can crew Si's RS 500 dinghy! And in the last two years she's discovered road cycling and is nuts about that too...
Got a head start at football as her Dad was a semi professional player...
Marcus Buckley
Marcus is the shop's climbing fanatic who seems to live, breathe and possibly eat the sport! Marcus's regular climbing partner is Ian Carr, a well known local activist with an impressive list of first ascents to his name.
He's well placed to keep us up to date on the latest comp results, new routes and developments and is a regular indoor wall climber. Marcus used to think skiing was for wimps but changed his tune after a trip to Scotland!
Expect Marcus to put on loads of weight soon – he's just got into motorbikes and has a venerable but very good looking Triumph Trophy 900. Think Don Whillans but without any fighting ability!!!
Safe pair of hands in goal...
Jane Gleeson
Jane puts the lads dubious fitness to shame – she even runs to work. She is unique in many ways, not least in that she used to be a professional firefighter! As a result, we have to hide the shop step ladders from her! Her major sport is running, both on and off road although she's also a very keen and proficient mountain walker.
Jane is putting her energies into developing our running footwear side of things and is highly interested in all things bio-mechanical.
Has replaced Phil as a first team member in midfield – a versatile all-rounder!
Phil Sneyd
Phil is a local lad who's climbed extensively around the Chew Valley and has also had plenty of other UK experience in Wales, Scotland and the Lakes together with a couple of full Alpine seasons in France.
He is highly knowledgeable about winter mountaineering in both Scotland and the Alps – well worth talking to if you're planning a winter trip. Has also discovered the advantages of skis for accessing remote winter climbs!
Phil is currently well into a degree course at Huddersfield University to become a qualified podiatrist and works part-time. Allegedly, he can't even afford a haircut now he's a part time student...
Tireless and solid in midfield but has put himself on the transfer list while studying...
Cap the Collie
Certainly the cutest and in his youth the fittest shop character, Cap was Si's border collie who used to specialise in running alongside mountain bikes and underneath paragliders for miles at a time.
Very sadly, we lost our beautiful lad to a short illness on the 4th of August 2010 but he will always keep his place in our hearts and features on our team page so everyone can remember him.
Football skills were plentiful but he was known for puncturing the ball and stopping play...
