Mountainfeet foot health clinicPodiatry and the Mountainfeet foot health clinic
Mountainfeet operates its' own in-house foot health clinic where the resident podiatrist, Matthew Butters from Colne Valley Chiropody, is currently taking new patients. Please ring him direct on 07767 746433 to discuss your needs and to arrange a convenient appointment.

Customers visiting the shop for footwear have the opportunity for an informal functional appraisal of their feet from qualified foot health practitioner Si Taylor. If an issue is identified, however large or small, then advice will be offered on how to proceed. This might take the form of suggesting a visit to a local GP for an NHS referral or a private appointment with a highly qualified foot health professional known as a podiatrist.

Podiatrists (also known as Chiropodists) specialise in the diagnosis and management of foot and lower leg disorders with a particular focus on injuries associated with foot and lower limb function. They can provide walking and running assessments to investigate posture and lower limb function which might include a detailed gait analysis.

If Si identifies an issue that he believes may cause you a potential problem in your sport and general well being he may suggest a visit to either Mountainfeet's own in-house clinic or to one of the local network of preferred podiatrists listed below

Matthew ButtersMatthew Butters (BSc Hons MChs) – Colne Valley Chiropody
Matthew is a highly respected podiatrist who lives in Marsden and is based at the Mountainfeet foot health clinic adjoining the shop. He has a keen interest in sport both on a leisure and professional level and as well as providing the usual range of foot maintenance services is highly expert in biomechanical matters.

Si has a close working relationship with Matthew and if a shop customer diagnosed with a functional issue is agreeable, he is able to pass on relevant information to the clinic which allows for very efficient management of the problem.

Tennant Podiatry, Oldham
Si has an excellent working relationship with Paul Tennant and his staff at Tennant Podiatry. Their practice is based on Union Street in Oldham and they have a special interest in biomechanical analysis which compliments the work done here. They are very reasonably priced and can treat a variety of problems which might detract from a customer's walking enjoyment.

A recent investment means that Tennants are one of the first practices in the country to offer state of the art laser treatment for fungal nails and verrucae.

For our many customers who live in the Oldham region, Tennant Podiatry is easily accessible from the new Metrolink tramway system.

Davenport House Clinic, Stalybridge
Tony GavinSi's good friend and mentor Tony Gavin is a highly respected podiatrist at Davenport House Clinic in Stalybridge who specialises in biomechanics and who has a distinct interest in sports injuries. Tony is a runner himself and has worked wonders with several Mountainfeet customers who have presented with problems beyond the shops scope. After assessment and often treatment, customers usually revisit the shop to discuss their footwear needs and Tony's findings. In addition to working hands on at his clinic, he also lectures on occasion at the prestigious Podiatry Department at Huddersfield University where our Phil studies.

Tony's clinic has recently been equipped with a state of the art gait analysis lab and anyone who is serious about their sport should invest a little extra on a functional assessment of their feet and lower limbs using Tony's expertise and the labs impressive array of diagnostic equipment.

Huddersfield University Podiatry Department
Oldham Chiropractic ClinicThe University Podiatry clinic, located on the ground floor of the Ramsden building on the main Queensgate campus, is a clinic for people with foot and lower limb problems. The clinic is open to members of the general public who have been referred by a GP or other medical practitioner.

The clinic is staffed by students under supervision by academic staff who all hold professional qualifications in podiatry.

As stated earlier, a referral is generally needed to obtain an appointment at the clinic but Mountainfeet are able to provide this for customers who it is felt would benefit from a visit and may not have the financial resources to attend a private clinic.
